East Fife FC are delighted to welcome former East Fife and Montrose goalkeeper Ray Charles back to Bayview as our Hospitality Guest of Honour when the Fifers take on Montrose on Saturday 19th September.

Ray enjoyed seven years as East Fife’s No.1, making almost 250 appearances for the club and establishing himself as a firm favourite between the posts.

After succeeding future Scotland international goalkeeper Gordon Marshall, Ray went on to create plenty of memorable moments in black and gold.

Among the highlights was his starring role in the legendary Scottish Cup double-header against Dundee United, while Ray also achieved the rare feat for a goalkeeper of getting his name on the scoresheet – famously scoring directly from a goal-kick to seal a 2-0 victory on the road.

His performances for East Fife were also recognised beyond Bayview, with Ray selected for international duty with the Scotland Semi-Professional XI.

There will be an added connection to our visitors on the day, with Ray being joined at Bayview by Dave Larter, another goalkeeping great from Montrose’s history.

With almost 250 East Fife appearances and seven seasons’ worth of memories to draw upon, there should be no shortage of stories when Ray joins our hospitality guests.
