Premier Sports Cup – Group F
Tuesday 14 July 2026
Bayview Stadium
Kick-off: 7.45pm
Preview by Oli Anderson
East Fife gear up for the first home game of the season, as we welcome Greenock Morton to the Kingdom this evening, ready for the second game in the Premier Sports Cup group stage.
The Story So Far
We came agonisingly close to producing a cup upset on Saturday, as we led 1-0 in the 90th minute of play at the Sarens PSG Stadium against Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle. A late goal proved to be a sucker punch, before the Caley Jags went on to seal the bonus point.
There were plenty of positive signs though, as East Fife fought hard, and deserved more out of the game than they got following a strong defensive showing.
The Opposition
It was a start to forget for championship side Greenock Morton, as Linlithgow Rose claimed all three points at Cappielow on Saturday. Since the introduction of the Group Stages ten years ago, Morton have progressed on four occasions, with their run to the semi-finals in 2016 their strongest showing in the cup. Recent years haven’t been quite as fruitful for them, qualifying twice in the last six years.
One to Watch
East Fife – Tom Milne
There may have been a couple of raised eyebrows at the decision to bring in Milne from St Andrews United, but boy what a signing does that look to be. He was assured, composed and hardworking at the back on Saturday, putting in some shift. If he continues like he started at the weekend, East Fife will have found a gem.
Key Battle
East Fife’s defence v Morton’s attacking threat
Morton are expected to see plenty of the ball, making concentration at the back essential for East Fife. Staying organised, limiting space in dangerous areas and defending set pieces could be the foundation for a positive result.

Prediction
Morton struggled in their opening game, while East Fife looked to punch above their weight on the road. On paper, Morton still go into this as favourites, but it is certainly closer than that. Both sides are desperate for points though, so I am going to sit on the fence, too close to call!
Mon the Fife!
