Name: Jonathan Fortune

Location: Kennoway/St. Andrews

East Fife

How long have you been an East Fife supporter and what was your first game?

I’m unsure as to the exact date of my first game but I started attending games with my family to watch my cousin, Stephen Fortune, when he was at the Fife. I vaguely remember him scoring against Stenhousemuir and, according to google, that was in a 3-2 defeat on the 12th of November 2005.

Most memorable moment following East Fife?

Probably winning the league against Clyde at Broadwood. Made the suffering we’ve all endured over the years worthwhile.

Least favourite moment following East Fife?

The 3-2 defeat to Raith Rovers in 2009. My Dad and I won tickets to the game through a competition in the East Fife Mail. Unfortunately, our seats just happened to be right next to the away support, and, inevitably, Raith scored a last-minute winner…

Favourite player (present)?

It’s a tossup between Jonathan Page and Mark Lamont but I’ll go for Lamont as his attacking runs and skills can be a joy to watch.

Favourite player (all-time)?

Bobby Linn. A great player who I would still have now at Bayview. Was such a shame that he left on bad terms.

Best East Fife goal you’ve seen?

Plenty spring to mind. I’ll say Stevie Campbell’s goal against Berwick Rangers in the 2014/2015 season. A quick free kick from near enough the halfway line that lobbed the ‘keeper.

Favourite Goal Celebration?

I struggle to remember goal celebrations but Nicki Paterson’s belly slide after his volley at Livingston away is one that is still fresh in the memory.

Pick your all-time East Fife 11

GK: Mark Ridgers, RB: Keith Watson, CB: Jonathan Page, CB: Jonathan Smart, LB: Gary Naysmith, RM: Bobby Linn, CM: Stevie Campbell, CM: Steven Hughes, LM: Matthew Park, ST: Nathan Austin, ST: Paul McManus

Scotland

Favourite Scotland game?

The 2-2 game against England last summer. Pure delirium after both of Griffith’s free kicks. Especially after thinking “surely he can’t do it twice…”

Favourite Scotland player (all-time)?

I was quite fond of James McFadden when I was younger – probably because of the goal he scored against France.

When do you think Scotland will next qualify for a major tournament?

I’ll be optimistic and say the Euros in 2020. I feel that if we get the next managerial appointment right, there’s a decent enough squad to work with that can get us qualification.

General

Ronaldo or Messi?

Messi – the best ever

Favourite away ground?

If you could change one football rule what would it be?

I’m in favour of teams being allowed to use a fourth substitution when a game goes to extra time. I’d like to see that become more wide spread.
