East Fife FC is delighted to announce that the club has entered into a Cooperation Agreement with Heart of Midlothian FC.
The Cooperation System was designed to provide greater flexibility than the existing domestic loan rules, helping talented young Scottish players aged 16 to 21 gain valuable first-team experience during a crucial stage of their development.
Under the Cooperation System, a parent club can nominate up to three players to a Cooperation List. These players can move freely between the parent club and the cooperating club throughout the season, allowing them to gain competitive minutes while remaining available to their parent club when required.
Unlike a traditional loan, the parent club retains the player’s registration and remains responsible for their wages. Only players who are under the age of 21 and eligible to represent Scotland at international level can participate in the Cooperation System.
"Young players only improve by playing games. If Hearts have boys who are good enough and hungry to learn, then we'll give them the opportunity to come here and show what they can do. They'll need to earn the right to wear the East Fife jersey, just like everybody else, but if they do, it'll be good for them and good for us. That's what this new system is all about."
