The Story So Far
East Fife make the journey north to Aberdeen this afternoon to face Cove Rangers, with Dick Campbell’s side looking to bounce back from a disappointing run of results.
The Fifers sit seventh in League 1, having collected eight points from their opening nine matches. Despite suffering just three league defeats, five draws have prevented East Fife from climbing further up the table.
Last weekend brought further frustration as East Kilbride ran out 3-0 winners at Bayview, following defeats against Montrose and Clydebank in the league and KDM Evolution Trophy respectively.
East Fife will take encouragement from August’s 2-0 victory over today’s opponents, when late goals from Connor Dow and Jaiden Fairley secured all three points. However, with just seven league goals scored this season, rediscovering that attacking edge will be crucial.
The Opposition
Cove Rangers have endured a difficult start to the campaign, sitting bottom of League 1 with five points from nine matches.
The Aberdeen side have recorded just one league victory, although their recent cup performances have been more encouraging. A 5-0 victory over Fraserburgh was followed by a 2-1 success against Aberdeen B in the KDM Evolution Trophy.
Last weekend, Cove were involved in an entertaining encounter at Palmerston, narrowly losing 4-3 to Queen of the South. Despite their struggles, that performance demonstrated the attacking threat they can pose.
Having conceded 15 league goals already, the hosts will be hoping to tighten things up defensively as they look to move away from the foot of the table.
One to Watch
Cove Rangers – Destiny Oladipo
Former East Fife forward Destiny Oladipo will be a familiar face as he lines up against his old club this afternoon.
Having previously enjoyed a spell in black and gold, Oladipo has scored twice in League 1 this season, including a goal in last weekend’s 4-3 defeat to Queen of the South.
His pace, movement and eye for goal make him a threat in attacking areas, and the Fifers will be determined to ensure their former player has a quiet afternoon.
Key Battle
East Fife’s attack vs Cove Rangers’ defence
With Cove having conceded 15 league goals and East Fife scoring just seven, the battle between the visitors’ attack and the hosts’ defence could prove decisive.
The Fifers will need to show greater composure in the final third and take advantage of any opportunities that come their way.

Did You Know?
East Fife’s only league victory this season came against Cove Rangers at Bayview on 8th August, when Connor Dow and Jaiden Fairley scored in the 80th and 87th minutes respectively to secure a 2-0 win.
The Match
With just three points separating the sides, today’s encounter presents an important opportunity for East Fife to create some breathing space towards the bottom of League 1.
Cove will be encouraged by their recent attacking performances, but the Fifers know they are capable of getting the better of their hosts.
A victory would provide a welcome confidence boost ahead of next weekend’s home encounter against Alloa Athletic.
Prediction
Neither side arrives in convincing league form, but East Fife’s earlier victory over Cove offers encouragement. If the Fifers can rediscover their attacking touch, an away win is within reach.
Prediction: Cove Rangers 1-2 East Fife
Mon the Fife!
