The Story So Far
After opening the William Hill League 1 campaign away to Alloa Athletic last weekend, East Fife now return to Bayview for their first home league fixture of the season.
The Fifers head into the game having enjoyed an encouraging Premier Sports Cup campaign, collecting a draw away to Inverness Caledonian Thistle before recording victories over Greenock Morton and Linlithgow Rose. A 1-1 draw against St Johnstone on the final matchday also underlined the progress being made by Dick Campbell’s side.
With the league campaign now underway, the Fifers will be looking to make home advantage count. There is little to separate these sides historically, but East Fife will be hoping that a positive performance at Bayview can provide another platform to build on as the season develops.
The Opposition
Cove Rangers arrive in Methil under the management of Paul Hartley, who recently signed a new three-year contract extension with the club. Hartley has overseen more than 270 matches across his two spells in charge and will be looking to guide Cove towards another strong campaign in League 1.
The Aberdeen side endured a difficult Premier Sports Cup campaign, suffering defeats against St Mirren and Dunfermline before a 2-0 defeat away to Dumbarton on the final matchday. They will therefore be keen to put those results behind them and get their league campaign moving in the right direction.
Cove have also shown in previous meetings that they can pose a significant threat, making Saturday’s encounter another important test for the Fifers.
One to Watch
Cove Rangers – Destiny Oladipo
Oladipo will be a familiar face to East Fife fans having spent the second half of season at Bayview.
Oladipo scored on his debut for Cove in a 3-2 victory over East Kilbride on the opening day of the Premier Sport Cup last month.
Key Battle
East Fife’s midfield control vs Cove’s attacking threat
The battle in the middle of the park could have a major bearing on the outcome. East Fife will want to dictate the tempo and build on the positive football shown during the Premier Sports Cup, while Cove will be looking to make their attacking players count in transition.
If the Fifers can win possession in dangerous areas and maintain pressure on the Cove midfield, they will give themselves a strong platform to create opportunities.

Out: Adam Laaref remains out this week as he continues his rehabilitation for his knee injury.
A couple of other players will have their fitness assessed prior to kick off this afternoon.

Did You Know?
There has been very little to separate East Fife and Cove Rangers in recent meetings. Across the last ten encounters, both clubs have recorded four victories, with the other two matches ending in draws. East Fife have scored 17 goals compared with Cove’s 18.
The most recent meeting came at the Balmoral Stadium on 2 May, when the sides played out a goalless draw. Earlier in the 2025/26 campaign, East Fife recorded victories over Cove both at Bayview and away from home.
Prediction
This should be another closely fought encounter between two sides who know plenty about each other.
East Fife will be looking to make a strong impression in front of the Bayview supporters and build on the encouraging signs shown during pre-season and the Premier Sports Cup. Cove, meanwhile, will be determined to put their difficult cup campaign behind them and start their league season on a positive note.
Home advantage could prove important, but the Fifers will need to be patient, disciplined and clinical when opportunities arrive. If Campbell’s side can reproduce the energy and organisation that has been evident in recent performances, there is every reason to expect a competitive afternoon at Bayview.
