East Fife 2-0 Cove Rangers – Match Report by Oli Anderson
🏆William Hill League 1
📍Bayview Stadium
🗓️Saturday 8th August 2026 | Kick-off: 3:00pm

East Fife left it late, but when the breakthrough finally arrived, it was worth the wait.

Goals from home debutant Connor Dow and under 20s graduate Jaiden Fairley in the final ten minutes secured a 2-0 victory over Cove Rangers at Bayview, maintaining the Fifers’ unbeaten start to their William Hill League 1 campaign and sending Cove back up the road empty handed.

After the goalless draw at Alloa on the opening day, East Fife returned to Methil looking for their first league victory of the season. For long periods, though, it looked as if we might be heading for another frustrating 0-0.

Cove proved stubborn opposition and there was little between the sides during a tight opening 45 minutes. East Fife remained patient, however, refusing to become frustrated as the visitors attempted to keep things tight. The Fifers continued to probe after the interval and, as the game entered its closing stages, Dick Campbell’s side finally got their reward.

Step forward Connor Dow.

Making his East Fife home debut, Dow chose just about the perfect way to introduce himself to the Bayview faithful, breaking the deadlock in the 80th minute and sending the home support wild. Talk about an impact sub!

Cove suddenly had to abandon their increasingly successful plan of boring everyone into submission and actually chase the game.

Seven minutes later, they were finished.

And this time the scorer could hardly have been more fitting.

Academy graduate Jaiden Fairley struck in the 87th minute to double the advantage and make absolutely certain of all three points. A new signing getting the opener and one of our own putting the game to bed – you would struggle to write a much better ending.

East Fife comfortably negotiated the remaining minutes to secure another clean sheet, meaning they have now gone through their opening 180 minutes of League 1 football without conceding.

Four points from six. Two clean sheets. First home win of the league campaign. Connor Dow scoring on his home debut. Jaiden Fairley scoring after coming through the club’s own youth system.
