The Story So Far
East Fife make the long journey north to Balmoor this afternoon looking to continue an unbeaten start to their William Hill League 1 campaign.
After beginning the season with a goalless draw away to Alloa Athletic, the Fifers picked up their first victory of the campaign last weekend with a 2-0 win over Cove Rangers at Bayview. Connor Dow finally broke the deadlock in the 80th minute before youth graduate Jaiden Fairley wrapped up the points seven minutes later, leaving Dick Campbell’s side on four points from their opening two league fixtures.
Attention briefly turned to the KDM Evolution Trophy on Tuesday night, where East Fife played out an eventful 2-2 draw with The Spartans. Mamadou Bah and Brian Easton were on target for the Fifers, with Easton’s equaliser arriving deep into stoppage time.
That means East Fife head north sitting fourth in the early League 1 table, with four points from six and yet to concede a league goal. Another positive result this afternoon would represent a very encouraging opening three games to the campaign.
The Opposition
Peterhead come into today’s game sitting just a point behind the Fifers after taking three points from their opening two fixtures.
The Blue Toon began their league campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Ross County, former Scotland striker Brian Graham scoring the only goal midway through the second half. They responded in impressive fashion last Saturday, however, securing a 1-0 victory away to Queen of the South at Palmerston Park.
Like East Fife, Peterhead were also involved in the KDM Evolution Trophy during the week, although their evening proved considerably more straightforward. They ran out 5-1 winners away to Banks O’Dee at Spain Park, meaning they come into this afternoon’s match with victories in their previous two outings.
The Blue Toon remain under the joint management of Jordon Brown and Ryan Strachan, who have provided considerable stability at Balmoor and signed new three-year deals with the club last year.
With only a point separating the sides at this early stage, this afternoon provides another good indication of where both teams stand.
One to Watch
Peterhead – Jason Brown
Although a defender, the Peterhead captain has a knack of scoring against East Fife so we’ll need to keep a close eye on him this afternoon.
Key Battle
East Fife’s defence vs Peterhead’s attacking experience
The Fifers have built their positive start to the league campaign on a solid defensive base, keeping consecutive clean sheets against Alloa Athletic and Cove Rangers.
That organisation will be tested by a Peterhead side containing plenty of experience in attacking areas. The hosts will look to use home advantage and put East Fife under pressure, while Campbell’s men will want to remain compact and look for opportunities to turn defence into attack.
If East Fife can maintain the discipline and concentration shown over their opening two league matches, they will give themselves every opportunity of taking something back down the road.

Did You Know?
East Fife will be hoping to build on their most recent meeting with Peterhead, having finally got the better of the Blue Toon towards the end of last season.
Peterhead had enjoyed the upper hand in the first three league meetings of the 2025/26 campaign, winning 4-1 at Balmoor in August, 1-0 at Bayview in December and 3-1 when the sides met again in the north-east in February.
The Fifers eventually ended that run on 11 April 2026, recording a 2-1 victory at Bayview.
With both clubs having also won promotion together from League 2 in 2024/25, there has been no shortage of familiarity between the sides over the last couple of seasons.
Prediction
Trips to Balmoor are rarely straightforward and today should provide another demanding test for Dick Campbell’s side.
Peterhead bounced back quickly from their opening-day defeat to Ross County and will be encouraged by victories over Queen of the South and Banks O’Dee over the past week. They will be confident of making home advantage count and continuing their own positive start.
East Fife, though, have plenty of reasons to travel north with confidence. Four points from the opening six available represents a good start, while consecutive league clean sheets have given Campbell’s side a strong platform to build from.
Last weekend’s late victory over Cove also showed that this team are prepared to remain patient when games are tight.
Another disciplined display will be required this afternoon, but if the Fifers can match the defensive organisation shown over the opening fortnight while carrying a greater threat going forward, there is no reason why they cannot return to Fife with something to show for their efforts.
Mon the Fife!
