🗓️Saturday 20th December 2025 | Kick-off: 3:00pm

East Fife fell to a 1-0 defeat at the MGM Timber Bayview Stadium on Saturday as Jason Brown’s first half goal saw Peterhead claim all three points in Methil.

We made one change to the side that won in Elgin midweek, with Nathan Austin being replaced by Tommy Goss. However, prior to kick off, another change was made following an injury to Reis Peggie during the warm-up, and Liam Newton was called into the starting XI.

It was a scrappy affair with few chances for either side, although the Blue Toon were the better of the two sides and deserved their victory.

The game was contested in the middle of the park for large spells of the first half, with East Fife at times slack in their passing, allowing Peterhead to hit on the break using their pace.

The goal came with just five minutes left in the half. The corner was swung into the box, and Matty Rollo made the original save. However, the ball could not be cleared, and when following a mishit clearance, it was deflected off Peterhead’s captain, Jason Brown, who sent it goalward.

The second half wasn’t much more exciting if truth be told, although Peterhead continued to be the stronger of the two teams.

East Fife had to wait until the 65th minute to have their first shot on goal, as substitute Connor McManus had a go from range with an acrobatic volley. It looked like it would dip goalward, however not quickly enough, and Peterhead remained in front.

In the final ten minutes of the game, East Fife did go for it, forcing more men forward in an effort to salvage a result, though it was to no avail, as the Blue Toon held firm and took all three points back up to Peterhead.

Speaking with East Fife TV after the game, Dick Campbell expressed his frustration with the performance: “We were very, very poor today. We never started the game, and it passed us by. If you don’t start a game, it’s difficult to flip a switch and improve. Peterhead looked well up for the game today and deserved the win.”

East Fife host Kelty Hearts, where the Fifers will look to wrap up 2025 with a victory.
