Everyone associated with East Fife Football Club wishes our chairman Liam Anderson a swift and full recovery following recent surgery.
Liam was taken into hospital at the end of last week and a successful operation took place to address a long-standing health condition.
After three days in intensive care – during which he still managed to keep track of Saturday’s league opener against Alloa – he was transferred to the high dependency unit this week, marking another positive step in his recovery.
The expected rehabilitation period and a return to full-time chairman duties is likely to be months rather than weeks, but supporters should be in no doubt that Liam has his sights set on a return to Bayview whenever that is possible.
“The surgeons seem very happy with my progress so far and I am indebted to them and so many other medical staff,” said Liam. “I am also very grateful to my wife Pauline and all of my family who have supported me during this difficult time.”
Liam will remain in hospital for at least a further week, and his family ask that he is allowed time to rest during this important early period of recovery.
As happened last season when Liam took time off club duties for health reasons, the club’s Vice-Chairman Donald Walker will take on the role of Acting Chairman until Liam is fit to return, with Brian Dickson becoming Acting Vice-Chairman.
“I am delighted that Liam has received the medical treatment he needed, and I am sure that this will give him a new lease of life after recent challenges,” said Donald. “Getting back to Bayview is the perfect motivation for him, and we will be thrilled to have him back when he is fit and ready.
“We are grateful to his family who have kept club officials posted with updates in recent days, during what has been an anxious time for them.
“I am sure that all of the East Fife family and the wider Scottish football community will join me in wishing Liam and his family all the very best as he sets out on this road to recovery. The club will offer them every support in the weeks ahead, and we all look forward to giving the chairman a huge welcome back to the stadium in the not-too-distant future.”
